He stated that the vaccine, administered to over 500,000 individuals, effectively protects against all four dengue serotypes. Padilha explained that the temporary suspension of the vaccine's use is to rigorously investigate 42 reported cases of severe adverse reactions, including two deaths, which may be linked to the immunization. The Ministry of Health, Anvisa, and Butantan are collaborating with expert panels to thoroughly examine these cases, which were not observed in prior studies.
