Germany is spearheading a new initiative to develop a sixth-generation fighter jet, dubbed "Team Gen 6," following the collapse of the previous Franco-German-Spanish Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program. A consortium of eight defense companies, led by Airbus, has put forward this proposal, which they aim to formally present this week in Berlin. This new alliance seeks to create a next-generation combat aircraft, with more details expected at an upcoming aviation show. The initiative arises after months of tension between Airbus and French manufacturer Dassault, leading to the dissolution of the ambitious FCAS project.
