The government is set to purchase 10,000 tons of lentils from domestic sources for distribution through the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). The acquisition, costing approximately 825.4 million Taka, aims to provide subsidized lentils to low-income families across the country. This purchase was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Planning. TCB's annual plan for the 2025-26 fiscal year includes a target of 230,000 tons of lentils, and the organization has already procured over 239,000 tons. Nabil Naba Foods Limited has been selected as the supplier, offering the lentils at a price of 82.54 Taka per kilogram, which is below the estimated cost.

This initiative is crucial for ensuring food security and providing essential commodities at affordable prices to vulnerable populations.
