– Vi må øke hastigheten. Spesielt ved å styrke forsvaret i nord
Forsvarssjefen bekrefter at Russland i ytterste fall kan være klar til en ny krig om to til tre år etter at krigen i Ukraina er over.
Norway's Chief of Defence, Eirik Kristoffersen, has expressed concern that the pace of the Norwegian Armed Forces' development is too slow compared to Russia's military buildup. He noted that despite significant investments, the military faces time pressure and shortages of equipment and ammunition. Kristoffersen indicated that Russia could potentially be ready for a new conflict within two to three years after the war in Ukraine concludes, highlighting the rapid expansion of Russian military bases and forces along its borders with Nordic and Baltic countries. Consequently, Norway must accelerate its own military reinforcement efforts, particularly in the north, including the earlier establishment of the Finnmark Brigade.
This situation underscores a heightened geopolitical threat in Northern Europe, necessitating a swift response to maintain national security and regional stability.
