Employees of Urbam in São José dos Campos have initiated a strike this Wednesday, May 10th, following a failure to reach an agreement with the company regarding salary adjustments. This marks the second work stoppage for the same reason this year, as a previous ten-day strike occurred in April. A recent conciliation hearing at the Regional Labor Court (TRT) on Tuesday also concluded without a resolution, meaning the salary negotiation process will now proceed to a judgment. In addition to salary increases, workers are also demanding the payment of an insalubrity bonus and the cessation of co-payments for health insurance.
The strike impacts essential city services like garbage collection and urban cleaning, potentially disrupting daily life for residents.
