Âmbar Energia, the new electricity distributor in Amazonas, has announced plans to invest R$ 2.3 billion by 2031 to modernize and improve the region's electrical grid. The investment aims to reduce the frequency and duration of power outages, a persistent issue for consumers in the state. The company, part of the J&F group, took over distribution operations in Amazonas earlier this year and is also set to manage Roraima Energia. The funds will be directed towards infrastructure upgrades, reducing the company's significant debt, and tackling energy losses, including those from illegal connections.
Key initiatives include the wider adoption of concentric cables to deter energy theft and prevent network tampering, which are expected to decrease system overloads and service disruptions. Âmbar Energia also plans to improve customer service by expanding its operational bases in Manaus and addressing customer non-payment issues.
This investment is crucial for improving the reliability of electricity supply in Amazonas, impacting millions of residents and businesses who have historically suffered from frequent blackouts.
