Six healthcare professionals have been indicted in connection with the deaths of a mother and her baby at the ISEA maternity ward in Campina Grande. The investigation concluded that medical negligence, including delayed interventions and improper procedures during a high-risk pregnancy, may have contributed to the tragic outcome. The baby died in utero due to uterine rupture during labor, and the mother passed away weeks later from complications exacerbated by the events. Investigators also found evidence of verbal and psychological abuse against the patient. The case, which occurred in March 2025, has been under investigation for over a year, with the indictment specifying charges related to aggravated induced abortion.
