The encounter was captured on video by a local kayaking instructor who was near the water when the juvenile whale approached surprisingly close. The animal was seen breaching the surface multiple times, and its vocalizations were audible in the footage. Experts from the Humpback Whale Project confirmed it was a young whale, though its exact age and sex could not be determined.
