Nearly 3,000 aftershocks recorded after Mindanao earthquake

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has reported a significant number of seismic events following a major earthquake in Mindanao. As of Thursday morning, 2,980 aftershocks have been detected and cataloged by the institute. These tremors are a direct consequence of the powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the region on Monday.

The high number of aftershocks indicates ongoing seismic adjustments in the region, which could pose continued risks to infrastructure and residents.
