Katanya
A Genting Highlands restaurant accused of overcharging for a steamed catfish dish has been cleared of wrongdoing by the Pahang Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN). The establishment had faced scrutiny after a group of tourists complained about a bill exceeding RM900 for the dish in March.
Investigations revealed that the restaurant clearly stated the price of RM33.80 per 100 grams for the catfish on its menu. The KPDN determined that the final price, calculated at RM338 per kilogram for a 2.7-kilogram dish, was within the permissible profit margins and did not violate the Control of Prices and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
This case highlights the importance of transparent pricing and menu clarity to prevent consumer disputes and ensure fair business practices.
