Malacañang has assured that the Philippines will maintain its control over Bajo de Masinloc, also known as Scarborough Shoal. This statement comes after the country filed a diplomatic protest against China regarding a recently spotted floating structure within the area. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is fully aware of the situation and is dedicated to employing diplomatic and legal avenues to safeguard national interests.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has initiated appropriate diplomatic actions concerning the unauthorized floating platform, which was observed to be within the shoal and occupied by individuals. The structure, measuring approximately six by six meters and equipped with an antenna, was detected within the Philippines' exclusive economic zone.
The assertion of control and pursuit of legal measures are crucial for the Philippines to protect its territorial integrity and sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.
