Representatives from Tajikistan and India met virtually on June 10th for the 12th session of their Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation. The two nations are looking to deepen their economic relationship, with India offering pharmaceuticals, food products, technology, and investment. Tajikistan, in turn, seeks Indian business involvement in its industrial, energy, digitalization, and logistics sectors.
Discussions highlighted the growth in bilateral trade, with Indian exports to Tajikistan increasing by over 27% in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, primarily driven by pharmaceutical and biological products. Both sides agreed to focus on expanding trade, investment, market access, and regulatory cooperation, particularly in the pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors.
