The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has verified 103 cybercrime accused across the State as part of a special enforcement drive aimed at monitoring offenders even after their arrest and identifying potential repeat involvement in cyber fraud.

Under “Operation Crackdown 3.0”, all seven cybercrime police stations functioning under TGCSB carried out a statewide verification exercise targeting accused persons involved in cybercrime cases registered across Telangana. Officials identified 127 accused persons for verification, including 57 Telangana residents who had previously been arrested by law enforcement agencies in other States in connection with cybercrime offences.

The operation focused on tracing the current whereabouts of the accused, assessing their present activities, monitoring financial and digital behaviour, identifying associates and determining whether they had resumed criminal activities. Simultaneous field verification drives were conducted by Cyber Crime Police Stations and District Cyber Crime Coordination Centres across the State. Officials carried out door-to-door checks, geo-tagged locations and conducted local enquiries as part of the exercise.

According to TGCSB, 103 of the 127 accused persons were successfully traced and verified, while efforts are continuing to locate the remaining 24.

An analysis of the accused profiles found that impersonation fraud was the most common offence, accounting for 48 accused persons. Investment scams followed with 27 accused, while ‘digital arrest’ frauds accounted for 11 accused. Together, these three categories represented nearly 68% of all verified cybercrime offenders.

Officials said the exercise was intended to strengthen intelligence-led policing, identify emerging cybercrime networks, enhance inter-state coordination and create a deterrent against repeat offending.
