BJP resorting to dirty politics in Meenakshi nomination rejection, alleges Jagga Reddy

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president T. Jagga Reddy questioned the ‘dirty’ politics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to prevent senior Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan from entering the Rajya Sabha. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said that Ms. Natarajan, whom he described as a simple, principled leader committed to Gandhian ideology, was deliberately targeted by the BJP during the Rajya Sabha election process in Madhya Pradesh. Rejection of the nomination is based on an unregistered case, he said, questioning the legitimacy of such a decision. “What was the need for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop a leader like Natarajan from contesting? It is unfortunate that a woman leader with a clean public image was prevented from entering Parliament through motivated tactics,” he said. Referring to repeated allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding electoral irregularities, he said the BJP was winning elections by misusing power and institutions. Responding to criticism from BRS leaders, particularly T. Harish Rao, he alleged that while the BJP was responsible for the controversy, BRS was attempting to shift blame onto the Congress. “BJP committed the wrongdoing, while BRS is throwing mud at Congress leaders,” he remarked. Mr. Jagga Reddy dismissed the claims of Congress coverts, and said it was BJP’s strategy to divert attention from the Rajya Sabha nomination issue.
