Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO) will organise a blood donation camp on its premises on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to mark National Cancer Survivors Day. The initiative aims to raise awareness about cancer survivors and encourage voluntary blood donation to support patients undergoing treatment and others requiring lifesaving transfusions. National Cancer Survivors Day is observed worldwide to honour the courage, resilience and achievements of cancer survivors while recognising the invaluable support provided by families, caregivers and healthcare professionals throughout their journey. Avinash C.B., Chief Medical Oncologist at BHIO, called upon the public to participate in the camp. “Be the reason for someone survives. Cancer survivors are living proof that hope is stronger than cancer. This National Cancer Survivors Day, let your blood donation become a lifeline for patients battling cancer and other critical illnesses. Join the blood donation camp and turn compassion into action,” he said. Gowtham Dhamerla, BHIO COO, said the occasion serves as a reminder of the strength shown by cancer survivors and the importance of community support. He noted that donated blood is a vital resource in cancer care and appealed to eligible donors, students, employees, social organisations and members of the public to participate in the noble cause, according to a press release. Persons interested to donate blood can contact 9012112190.
