Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) is organising ‘Subhash Palekar Krushi’ (SPK) workshop for farmers at its campus in Tirupati district on Thursday. Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) campaigner Subhash Palekar, along with other dignitaries, participated in the inaugural event of the five-day national workshop.
On the occasion, Mr. Palekar launched his new book on natural farming. Addressing the gathering, he elaborated on various aspects of the SPK. “Everyone, including the government and NGOs, are misguiding us on natural farming, which does not exist anywhere in the world. How can we say natural when it is created by human beings,” Mr. Palekar questioned.
He insisted on calling it SPK instead of natural farming. “In SPK or any other agriculture technology, the soil is cultivated. Cultivation is not natural, only the forests created by god is natural. We use Jiwamrita and Bijamrita in the place of insecticides and pesticides. The SPK promotes chemical-free farming using cow dung as manure,” he informed.
