The Tanzanian government has introduced the Machinga Fund, a new initiative aimed at bolstering small-scale entrepreneurs, commonly referred to as 'Machinga.' For the 2025/26 fiscal year, 18.5 billion Tanzanian Shillings will be allocated to provide loans for these businesses.
Further strengthening the fund, an additional 10.5 billion Shillings is earmarked for the 2026/27 period. The government is also continuing its National Youth Economic Empowerment Program, having disbursed over 52.6 billion Shillings in loans to young entrepreneurs by April 2026, with a total of 200 billion Shillings set aside for the program.
This initiative aims to provide crucial financial support and opportunities for small business owners and youth, contributing to economic growth and development within Tanzania.
