Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has written to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, expressing his readiness to deploy personnel of his private security outfit to public schools across the state amid growing concerns over insecurity. The move comes 24 days after the abduction of pupils and teachers during coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of the state. In a letter dated June 9, 2026, and obtained by The PUNCH in Ibadan on Thursday, Igboho, through his security outfit, Iru Ekun Private Security Limited, requested details of public schools and their locations across Oyo State to facilitate the proposed security arrangement. The correspondence, addressed to the Commissioner for Education and copied to Governor Makinde, stated that the organisation was prepared to partner with the state government in strengthening security around public schools. Part of the letter read, “Sir, Iru Ekun Security Network’s plan, upon receipt of the requested information, is to ensure that at least two trained members of the outfit are stationed at each public school identified across Oyo State. Their mandate will be to guard school environments, monitor access points, liaise with principals and community vigilantes, and prevent unlawful incursion by criminal elements.” The letter, jointly signed by Igboho and the legal adviser of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Junaid Sanusi, said the proposal reflected the outfit’s commitment to collaborating with government authorities, traditional institutions and local communities to enhance the safety of schools. It added, “We equally advise Oyo State Government to consider the possibility of raising fences around all public schools within Oyo State in order to make the school environment easy to guard by the members of Iru Ekun Security Network, stationed to such schools.” Related News Police arrest 225 suspects, rescue 17 kidnap victims in Katsina Court sentences five to death over Edo lawyer’s murder Loss of over 200 Amotekun Corps unacceptable, Oyo APC tells Makinde While commending ongoing efforts by the Oyo State Government and federal security agencies to rescue victims of recent kidnappings, the outfit stressed the need for proactive measures to prevent future attacks. “Time is of the essence. Every day without preventive deployment exposes our children and teachers to avoidable risk. With proper data and perimeter security, we can create a protective shield around every public school in Oyo
