The first group of 258 Nigerian citizens who were evacuated from South Africa have arrived in Lagos. They returned on a chartered Air Peace flight. Mobile network operator MTN announced it will provide cash and airtime to these individuals. The Imo state government has also pledged to give one million naira to its indigenes among the returnees.
This initiative provides immediate support to Nigerians displaced by xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
