High Court Orders Forfeiture of 8 Vehicles Tied to Fugitives
THE High Court has ordered the forfeiture to the State of eight vehicles linked to fugitives of the law. According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) the ruling followed an application for civil forfeiture filed by the Prosecutor-General against Square Chimweta, Hilton Mutsopotsi, Daniel Chijoko, Joseph Meki, Leonard Huni, Makudo Muzenda, Stephen Mudzingwa, and Sam Malunga, who are all at large. Zimbabwe's High Court has mandated the forfeiture of eight vehicles connected to individuals currently evading the law. The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the ruling, which stemmed from a civil forfeiture application against eight fugitives who are all at large.
The seized vehicles include a Nissan X-Trail, a BMW with South African plates, a Toyota Corolla, a Mazda Verisa, a Toyota Granvia, a Mitsubishi Colt, a pink Honda Fit without registration, and a Mercedes Benz. The court has directed the Civil Vehicle Registry to transfer ownership of these assets to the State.
This ruling reinforces the state's ability to seize assets linked to criminal activity and individuals on the run, even without a criminal conviction.
