Dushanbe, Tajikistan, will host the first-ever Hoji Sharif Dushanbe Junior Grand Prix on October 24-25, 2026, marking a significant event in junior judo. This new tournament is part of the International Judo Federation's (IJF) initiative to elevate young athletes' experience closer to the senior world tour level. The competition will allow junior judokas to earn ranking points and prize money, features previously exclusive to adult events. Following the Dushanbe event, a training camp will be held from October 26-28. A subsequent Saber Tashkent Cadet Grand Prix for under-18 athletes is scheduled in Uzbekistan from November 24-25, 2026, also concluding with a training camp.
This initiative by the IJF aims to invest in the future of judo by providing young athletes with more opportunities to gain competitive experience and prepare for elite careers.
