Opposing the fuel price hike across the country, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay said the move is unacceptable. The increase will severely affect the buying capacity of the poor and the downtrodden, he added in his statement.
AIADMK rebel leader S.P. Velumani expressed his faction’s willingness to hold discussions with party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on intra-party issues.
Meanwhile, K.C. Veeramani who was in the rebel camp led by Mr. Velumani and C.Ve. Shanmugam switched sides and told reporters that his support was for Mr. Palaniswami.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) general secretary and Villupuram MP D. Ravikumar urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay against inducting the MLAs from the breakaway faction of the AIADMK into his Cabinet, as it would “raise serious questions of political morality and ethical propriety.”
Fire broke out at a godown located inside the Tech Mahindra premises in Sholinganallur this afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Fire and Rescue Services personnel. The staff of the firm who were working in the nearby buildings were quickly evacuated.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, said officials.
