Activist Condemns Kapoeta East Commissioner's Killing, Urges Council of States Intervention

Civil society activist Edmond Yakani has strongly condemned the killing of Kapoeta East County Commissioner Stephen Lowosio and called for immediate intervention from the Council of States. The killing occurred during violent clashes in a disputed border area between the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) and Eastern Equatoria State. The GPAA Information Minister confirmed the recovery of the commissioner's body after an armed confrontation. Yakani urged the Council of States to stabilize the region and prevent further violence stemming from territorial disputes. He also appealed to border communities to resist political manipulation and avoid retaliatory attacks, while demanding that GPAA authorities apprehend those responsible for the ambush.
