An initiative to combat peer violence has seen boxing bags installed in various locations across Skopje frequented by young people. Organized by the Center for Contemporary Arts, the project aims to redirect youthful energy from aggression towards sports and creativity. The bags feature messages such as 'Hit the bag, not the person' and 'Leave the punch here.' While acknowledging that these installations alone cannot solve the problem of peer violence, organizers hope to raise awareness and stimulate broader societal discussion. The initiative encourages young people, parents, educational institutions, and authorities to collaborate on creating more opportunities for positive activities. The project also sends a message against all forms of violence, including domestic and gender-based violence.
This creative urban art project offers a novel approach to addressing the serious issue of youth violence by promoting alternative outlets for frustration and energy.
