A drunken brawl at a liquor shop near Kukatpally Metro Station on Thursday evening left a man with a serious eye injury after he was attacked with a broken beer bottle during a scuffle.

The incident was reported around 8 p.m. when a person identified as Ravi and some of his relatives were consuming alcohol near a liquor outlet near the metro station. An argument broke out between Ravi and Naresh, both of whom were under the influence of alcohol.

The verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical fight. During the ensuing scuffle, Naresh picked up a shard from a broken beer bottle and attacked Ravi, causing a severe injury to his eye.

The injured man suffered heavy bleeding and was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment.

The Kukatpally police registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation.
