Andhra Pradesh Rowing Association president and Khelo India (Rowing) South Zone member Tarun Kakani has been nominated by the Rowing Federation of India as a member of the Rowing Commission to represent the Indian rowing contingent at the World Rowing Championship being held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from June 12 to 14, 2026.
During the championship, Mr. Tarun met World Rowing officials, including Chairman Ivan Popov, President Katya Karuspov, and rowing official Chiranjit Phukan. He also interacted with representatives and athletes from several national rowing federations and extended invitations to participate in the forthcoming Asian Rowing Championship to be hosted in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tarun said the visit provided valuable exposure to the technical, organisational and operational aspects of conducting a world-class rowing event. He observed that the experience would help in gaining a deeper understanding of international standards and best practices in the planning and management of major rowing championships.
