Woman booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl after previously being accused of offences against boys. The police have registered a case against 26-year-old Sneha Merlin, a resident of Taliparamba, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl from the Melparamba police limits in Kasaragod. The assault took place months earlier when the woman visited a friend’s house where the girl lived. The accused allegedly threatened the girl with harm if she disclosed the incident. The girl reportedly revealed the abuse during counselling at her school. School authorities then informed Childline and the police, prompting a formal complaint and the recording of the child's statement, following which the police registered a POCSO case and launched an investigation. The woman had previously been arrested by the Taliparamba police on POCSO-related charges for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor boys. According to the police, she committed the latest offence in Melparamba after being released from jail.
