Malaysian Cricket Association Leadership Dispute: Parties Await Ruling Date

Parties involved in a lawsuit filed by the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) leadership against its former President, Mohammed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali, and EXCO members are awaiting a new court date for the decision. The High Court had initially set July 17 for the ruling, but the legal team representing Mohammed Iqbal informed the court that this date was unsuitable due to a scheduling conflict. The case, a preliminary action, was previously scheduled for June 29, following a postponement from April 17. The lawsuit was initiated by Datuk Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin, who claims to be the Acting President and Vice President of MCA. The suit names Mohammed Iqbal, Dr. Arun Kumar Beshamber Nath, Amarjeet Singh Wazir Singh, Mahnorizal Mahat, and Ahmad Salman Othman as defendants. Ahmad Feisal is seeking declarations that the defendants cease to hold their respective positions as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Executive Committee members, effective April 13, 2024. The grounds for the suit include the defendants' announcement of their resignations at an extraordinary general meeting on April 13, 2023, followed by their subsequent withdrawal of these resignations via email and letter in late April 2023.
