PJ MP's Resignation Lacks Principle, Betrays Mandate

The resignation of Petaling Jaya Member of Parliament, Lee Chean Chung, from the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) has been described as an unprincipled act and a betrayal of the party members' mandate. Deputy Secretary-General of PKR, Bryan Ng, stated that this move disregards the votes of 4,416 party members who elected Lee, thereby diminishing Petaling Jaya's political influence within the ruling party. Ng refuted claims that Lee's voice was unheard, noting that Lee had not attended MPP meetings since November of the previous year. Ng argued that individuals who choose not to attend meetings cannot claim their voices are not heard and that genuine political engagement occurs within party forums, not solely on social media after prolonged absences. He emphasized that courageous leaders debate and negotiate within party structures, even amidst differing opinions. Lee had announced his immediate resignation from the MPP after 18 years with the party, citing a loss of confidence in the leadership's handling of various issues. Ng also addressed concerns about access to the MyKhas system, stating that government channels remain open for applications.
