Donnarumma: Reciprocal openness needed for train competition

Gruppo FS CEO Luigi Ferraris stated that competition with French entities on train services is welcome, provided there is mutual openness. He noted that German infrastructure is outdated with significant ongoing construction, causing lengthy delays, unlike brief disruptions in Italy. Ferraris highlighted the central role of Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which allocates approximately 25 billion euros to the railway sector. The company invested half of this amount last year and plans to invest a similar sum in 2026. He was speaking at the Repubblica delle Idee festival. This investment aims to modernize and expand the Italian railway network.
