The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has urged the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to cease the practice of 'pushing in' individuals from India into Bangladesh. BGB stated that this action violates existing policies and protocols. The call was made following a four-day border conference in New Delhi. While the BSF's joint statement did not explicitly address the push-in issue, they reportedly prioritized addressing such matters through existing bilateral mechanisms. Tensions have been high recently due to repeated attempts by India to push individuals across the border. BGB highlighted concerns over the push-in of Rohingya, Myanmar nationals, and Indian citizens. They emphasized that Bangladesh would accept identified Bangladeshi nationals through established bilateral repatriation systems. The BGB director general requested the BSF to halt push-ins and adhere to bilateral processes for repatriating identified individuals. BSF, in turn, urged the completion of nationality verification for prompt repatriation. Both sides agreed to prioritize existing bilateral arrangements in their duties.
