AI-powered robot cleaners are now being deployed in homes across China, assisting human cleaners. A pilot program in Beijing pairs human workers with robots from X Square Robot for household chores. These robots, equipped with cameras and mechanical claws, can identify and tidy areas, pick up rubbish, and fold clothes. The service, a collaboration between 58.com and X Square, costs 149 yuan for three hours and is available in Beijing and Shenzhen. While currently a novelty and data-gathering exercise, it represents a step towards robotic assistance in manual labor. Early users find the service helpful, despite its imperfections, and are intrigued by the technology's capabilities.
This development showcases the increasing integration of AI and robotics into domestic settings, signaling a potential shift in household labor and services.
