NLC India Preferred Bidder for Telangana Critical Mineral Block
The announcement comes close on the heels of NLC signing an MoU with CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi, to foster collaboration in the field of critical and strategic minerals beneficiation and extraction technologies
State-owned NLC India Limited has been designated the preferred bidder for a significant mineral block in Telangana. The block, located in Sanga Reddy district, contains Vanadium, Titanium, and Aluminous Laterite. This designation followed an e-auction conducted by the Union Ministry of Mines on June 11. The company recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute to enhance technologies for extracting critical and strategic minerals. This collaboration aims to explore resource recovery from NLC's Neyveli mines and other projects, focusing on sustainable and economically viable methods. The initiative seeks to develop technologies for extracting rare earth elements and other valuable trace elements from secondary sources.
This development is significant as it secures a critical mineral resource for NLC India, potentially boosting the nation's strategic mineral capabilities and promoting advanced extraction technologies.
