President Samia Suluhu Hassan is scheduled to launch the second phase of the Samia Legal Aid campaign in Zanzibar on June 20. The event, expected to draw national leaders and over 15,000 attendees, aims to expand access to justice for low-income and vulnerable groups. The campaign offers free legal assistance, raises awareness of legal rights, and facilitates dispute resolution. During the first phase, 422,908 citizens, primarily men, benefited from these services. Zanzibar's Minister of State, Dr. Haroun Ali Suleiman, urged citizens to attend and utilize the available legal services. Preparations are underway, with Union Minister Dr. Juma Zuberi Homera coordinating arrangements.
This initiative is vital for ensuring equitable access to justice and empowering citizens, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to understand and assert their legal rights.
