MdI Gandeng Shopee Perkuat Ekonomi Digital

The Insolvency Department of Malaysia (MdI) is actively engaging the community to raise awareness about bankruptcy and financial management through its MdI Open Day events. The recent event in Kota Tinggi featured various activities, including the launch of a MADANI Adopted School program with SK Felda Air Tawar 4 and a Shopee Rai Lokal Roadshow. MdI Director-General Datuk Ishak Bakri stated that the Open Day aims to connect with the public, emphasizing the department's role in assisting individuals facing bankruptcy and helping them recover. A new initiative involves a collaboration with Shopee to organize a bankruptcy asset auction carnival. This carnival aims to expedite the sale of assets belonging to bankrupt individuals, with proceeds used to assist other debtors and fund MdI's services. If successful, this model will be expanded to other states. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said highlighted the Open Day as a crucial platform for financial education and direct consultation with relevant agencies.

This initiative demonstrates a proactive approach by a government agency to improve financial literacy and leverage digital platforms for economic empowerment and asset management.
