Dezenas de pessoas com albinismo marcharam, neste sábado, pelas ruas da cidade de Maputo, para exigir maior inclusão social, igualdade de oportunidades e acesso ao protector solar, um produto considerado essencial para a prevenção do cancro da pele. A iniciativa enquadra-se nas celebrações do Dia Internacional de Consciencialização sobre o Albinismo, assinalado anualmente a 13 de Junho, e visou chamar a atenção para os desafios que continuam a afectar esta camada da população
Dozens of individuals with albinism marched through Maputo on Saturday, advocating for greater social inclusion, equal opportunities, and access to sunscreen. The event coincided with the International Albinism Awareness Day on June 13th, aiming to draw attention to the challenges faced by this population group. Participants carried signs and chanted slogans, denouncing social stigma, discrimination, and difficulties in accessing employment. A key demand was affordable access to sunscreen, crucial for preventing skin cancer. The march also saw participation from people with various disabilities, symbolizing solidarity and a joint push for inclusion. The day concluded with a workshop discussing challenges and prospects for promoting the rights of people with albinism in Mozambique, emphasizing dignity and respect.
