Nurses Booked After Child Cancer Patient's Death at AIIMS Bhopal

Two nurses at AIIMS Bhopal have been formally charged following the death of a three-year-old cancer patient. The child reportedly died in December 2025 after receiving an incorrect injection containing a toxic chemical. An internal inquiry by AIIMS identified gross negligence by nursing officers Madhubala Sharma and Anuka Gujarati, leading to the filing of an FIR. The nurses have been suspended by the hospital management. Ms. Sharma is accused of administering the wrong injection, while Ms. Gujarati allegedly left the toxic substance unattended. Police are investigating the exact chemical involved, with preliminary reports suggesting it was formalin or formaldehyde solution. The child's father stated he attempted to warn the nurse about a marking on the syringe before it was administered.
