Shinyanga Airport is scheduled to commence official operations by September 1st, after authorities ensured the completion of remaining works on the rehabilitated facility. Minister Prof. Makame Mbarawa emphasized that the investments must yield economic benefits by connecting the region and fostering business. In the Mara Region, Musoma Airport has undergone significant upgrades, including a new asphalt runway, costing over Sh35bn. The upgraded airport can now accommodate larger aircraft, increasing passenger capacity and positioning it as ATCL's 17th domestic hub from July 2026. These developments are expected to bolster key sectors like tourism, fishing, and trade in the Mara Region.
