Questions had arisen regarding the validity of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly's dissolution on June 5th. This matter is addressed by Article 56(2) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution, which grants the 'Raja' the discretion to dissolve the Assembly. The constitution defines 'Raja' in this context as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Undang Yang Empat, along with the Tengku Besar Tampin. Based on these definitions, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar at the time of the dissolution request by the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, correctly exercised his discretionary power. The interpretation also clarifies whether this power requires the consent of other Undang, with specific conditions outlined in Article 28(2) pertaining to matters under Article 40(2), such as deferring consent for the dissolution of the Assembly.
