Zimbabwe's blood supply system has achieved international recognition for its safety standards, according to the National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ). The implementation of Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) technology has significantly improved the detection of infections in donated blood, virtually eliminating the risk of transmission. NBSZ chief executive Lucy Marowa stated that the country's transfusion service is now on par with global best practices, enhancing patient confidence. This advancement was supported by government funding, which also ensures free access to blood for patients in public facilities.
