Strijd tegen sociale fraude levert ruim 100 miljoen euro op

Belgium's efforts against social fraud have generated over 100 million euros in the first quarter of the year, an increase of more than 3 million euros compared to the same period last year. Minister of Social Fraud Combat Rob Beenders highlighted the effectiveness of inspection services and individual investigations, which led to violations being identified in nearly half of the 38,556 investigations conducted. The government plans to intensify these efforts with a new action plan for 2026-2027, aiming to increase the chances of catching those who exploit the system. Alongside enforcement, the initiative also focuses on prevention and support, including informing new employers about their obligations and assisting companies using temporary unemployment. The message is clear: honest work and business are protected, while fraud is met with increased scrutiny.
