Punjab extends Liquid Tree project to combat pollution

The Punjab government has expanded the Liquid Tree project to address urban pollution. The initiative, managed by the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency, uses microalgae to absorb carbon dioxide and improve air quality. A liquid tree will be moved from Faisalabad to Lahore as part of the expansion. Over 100 types of micro-algae have been collected from various regions for the project. Liquid trees will be placed in shopping malls and public spaces to reduce air pollution. The project is seen as a scientific solution to combat rising carbon dioxide levels and smog. It is part of Punjab's strategy to use technology for environmental challenges. The EPA has also taken actions against hazardous operations, including demolishing fat-melting units and banning plastic bags. The agency is working on creating green buffer zones and controlling tree cutting to reduce industrial pollution.
