A humanoid robot named Pemba is preparing for a challenging climb to the top of Mount Everest. The robot, a modified Unitree G1, recently reached the summit of Chimborazo in Ecuador, which is higher than Denali. The climb involved both autonomous walking and being carried by humans. Pemba is part of an initiative called 'Pemba' aimed at testing humanoid mobility in extreme environments. The project, led by a French engineer, hopes to use the robot for monitoring remote areas like the Amazon rainforest. The team plans to next take Pemba to Hawaii's Mauna Kea before attempting Everest. This effort highlights the growing capabilities of humanoid robots in challenging conditions.
