Ansiba Hassan seeks court action against Lakshmipriya and cop
Ansiba, a former joint secretary of AMMA, in her complaint accused association vice-president Lakshmipriya of filing a false complaint against her, and Reshma, sub-inspector of Thripunithura Women’s cell, of subjecting her to harassment and unlawful detention in the name of verifying the allegations against her
Actor Ansiba Hassan has filed a petition with the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Thripunithura, requesting the court to direct the police to register an FIR against actor Lakshmipriya and a female police officer. She claims that Lakshmipriya made a false complaint against her, while the police officer allegedly harassed her. Ansiba Hassan stated that she had exhausted all legal remedies under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, before approaching the court. The court is now being asked to issue directions for an FIR under Section 175 (3) of the BNSS. The Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police had previously ruled out registering a case against the accused. The ACP’s report, based on witness statements and CCTV footage, suggested that Lakshmipriya’s complaint was based on an unclear message that caused family issues. The police claim the female officer only performed her duty by summoning Ansiba Hassan for verification, with no unlawful detention involved. The case is under further review by the police.
The case highlights tensions within the film industry and the legal procedures followed in handling complaints against public figures.
