Sindano, appointed as an ECN commissioner in 2022, is set to replace Elsie Nghikembua if approved. Nghikembua has been chairperson since 2021 and will complete her term this year. Sindano has extensive academic experience, including roles at the University of Namibia. His endorsement was proposed by Swapo MP Pohamba Shifeta in the National Assembly. Other candidates include Emmerentia Leonard and Julieta Ferreira. The National Assembly confirmed the selections after interviews. Independent Patriots for Change MP Elvis Lizazi supports the appointments, stating they comply with legal requirements. He emphasized the importance of experience in managing elections.
