Ryanair to shut Berlin base as it blames rise in German aviation tax
Ryanair, Almanya'daki artan havacılık vergilerini gerekçe göstererek Berlin üssünü kapatacak ve kış döneminde şehre yapılan uçuşları yarıya indirecek. Yedi uçağın başka merkezlere taşınması yolcu sayısını 4,5 milyondan 2,2 milyona düşürecek.
Ryanair has announced it will close its operational base in Berlin and significantly reduce its winter flight schedule to the German capital. The airline attributes this decision to a substantial increase in German aviation taxes. Consequently, Ryanair plans to relocate seven aircraft from Berlin to other operational hubs, which will halve the number of passengers served in Berlin annually, dropping from 4.5 million to 2.2 million. Flights to and from Berlin will continue but will be operated by aircraft stationed at different airports starting in October.
This move highlights the impact of rising taxes on airline operations and could affect travel accessibility and prices for passengers flying to and from Berlin.
