PM Shehbaz approves 100MW solar project in GB
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the federal government would bear the expenses for a 100 megawatt solar power project in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Authorities presented details about ongoing solar projects in the region, including an 18MW initiative for government buildings. The 18MW project is set to finish by December, with another part expected by October. An 82MW solar project for residential areas is also in progress. The 100MW project was approved by the Executive Committee in August 2025 and later by the prime minister to ensure reliable power supply.
This project aims to improve energy access and sustainability in Gilgit-Baltistan.
