Tanzania's navigator, Maisam Fazal, praised the Iringa Motorsports Club for their effective safety measures during a recent rally. Fazal and driver Samir Shanto were saved when their car caught fire, thanks to fireproof suits and FIA-standard extinguishers. The safety measures included high-pressure extinguishing systems, independent power sources, and multi-point activation. Drivers wear fire-resistant suits made of Nomex, which can resist flames for 20 seconds. The cockpit is designed as a fire-resistant survival cell. Tanzania was the first East African country to introduce fireproof suits in 2006. Fazal emphasized the importance of safety measures for drivers and navigators.
