Acting Assistant Commissioner Mussa Mkamate emphasized that senior citizens are vital to achieving Vision 2050. The call came during the International Day for the Prevention of Elder Abuse in Kagera Region. Many elderly face challenges like neglect, health issues, and land grabbing. The government has established 13 elderly care homes and 16 private facilities. The National Council of Elders Advisory Board highlighted the need for respect and quality healthcare. District Commissioner Erasto Yohana Sima stressed community responsibility in ensuring safe environments for the elderly. The event aimed to promote inclusivity and care for senior citizens.
