The European Parliament has approved two legislative acts implementing the EU-US trade agreement, which includes eliminating tariffs on US industrial products and granting preferential access for certain agricultural goods and seafood, while extending duty-free lobster imports. Strong safeguards are in place to protect the European economy, including a sunset clause in 2029 and the possibility of suspending concessions if the US imposes high tariffs on steel and aluminum. A mechanism will be activated if increased imports harm EU industries or agriculture. The European Commission will monitor the agreement's implementation, with final approval pending the Council of the EU's decision.
